I've enabled autocompletion of queries for the Connecticut Law Search Engine. According to the custom search blog, the autocompleted queries are generated from content on the websites included in the custom search engine. In other words, the autocompletions are customized for each search engine. Very nice! Here's a screenshot:

I've posted a review of Google Scholar's free case law database. What is offered in Scholar is vastly better than what was previously available for free online.

Suggestions 02/12/2010

If you have any suggestions for this site, including websites or content you'd like to see included, feel free to email me or leave a comment.

I have added a link to the mobile version of the site. Visit the mobile version page to find the link. If you are using a high-end device such as an Android or Palm-powered phone, iPhone, or BlackBerry, you should be automatically redirected to the mobile site.

New URL 10/31/2009

I've registered www.ctlawsearch.com as the new address for this site. You will be automatically redirected when going to the old address.

I'm testing two new pages, "Case Law" and "CT Statutes and Codes." The case law page searches recent Connecticut opinions, US Supreme Court opinions, selected F2d and F3d opinions, and selected Connecticut bankruptcy opinions. The codes page searches the US Code and Connecticut statutes.

Welcome! 10/18/2009

Welcome to the redesigned Connecticut Law Search Engine. The underlying custom search engines haven't changed, but the web address and site design have. When I make any substantial changes to the search engine or to the site, I'll post about it here.

    About

As a law librarian at a public law library, I regularly need to find Connecticut legal information quickly. I created this search engine to efficiently retrieve freely available legal information on the Web. I realized that others researching the law might find this search engine useful and now make it public for anyone to search. I continue to tinker with and tweak this Google Custom Search engine.
